DEXTER
FLOWERS
Born in Santa Cruz California, but currently based in Portland
OR, Dexter Flowers is a Sardonic Enthusiast, leading her readers
through her witty, honest, and dark sense of humor. She is working
on a collection of memoirs with topics that include growing up
with a single mom who was a witch on food stamps, tales of unicorn
goats, and preteen visits to hippy polyamorous communes. She is
also working on finishing her novel that is based on her experiences
as a Social Worker, tentatively titled The Ones Who Got Caught.
She hosts an open mic at In Other Words, a non-profit feminist
bookstore and has been a guest performer at San Francisco's Radar
Reading series, as well as Lewis and Clarke College, PSU, amongst
others. Dexter is a contributor to the anthology Baby
Remember My Name, which recieved an excellent review
in Publishers Weekly where she was specifically garnished praise
for her "rebellious" tale. She is also a contributor
to the recently released book It's
So You-- both edited by Michelle Tea. Maybe it was
something you ate is her zine and she plays keys/sings in
a surfy new wave band called Seagull and Wave.
